Partial dentures are removable prosthetic appliances that replace missing teeth.
They are used when few teeth are left in the mouth.
They usually have a metal framework, pink acrylic base and acrylic teeth and attach to the teeth with clasps or precision attachments.
Dentures should be cleaned outside the mouth with mild soap and a denture brush.
Do not use common toothpaste or any abrasive powder because they could scratch the denture surface.
Clean the outer surface of the dentures and the teeth.
Clean the inner surface.
Clean the metal framework.
It is advisable to brush your dentures in a wash basin filled with a little water to avoid accidental breaking.
You may also put some cloth or tissue under the dentures.
It takes a little time to become accustomed to new partial dentures. The tongue may need some time to adjust while speaking, but problems will decrease over time. Irritation and soreness may occur, and the dentist will make some adjustments.
The dentist will show you how to insert and remove your partial denture.
Never try to insert it by biting down or remove it with your tongue.
